What You Know About Me?

Michelle "Mika" Sunga is a music industry executive with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of Hip-Hop, R&B, Caribbean, and African music. Her career has been defined by an artist-first instinct and a track record of identifying talent early — long before the industry catches on.

For 7+ years, Mika has been at Vevo, currently serving as Director of Music Programming & Curation. Her work there spans the DSCVR artist development series, where her early credits include Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Lola Brooke; label and DSP relationships; podcast partnerships, which she leads externally for the company; and cross-functional cultural campaigns. She spearheaded the API Heritage Month campaign featuring Awich, EZ Mil, and Dylan Sinclair — one of Vevo's biggest campaigns in both 2025 and 2026. She's also done deep programming work architecting a Brazilian hip-hop FAST channel, and collaborated with Vevo's engineering team on the Backstage CMS and the HIVE AI content moderation system.

Her A&R credits include Bbymutha and Chelsea Reject; she co-funded and operationally managed Bbymutha's 2024 international tour and produced album release parties.

Before Vevo, Mika's path ran through the engine rooms of independent Hip-Hop culture: distribution and e-commerce operations at Fat Beats, social media at Okayplayer, e-commerce and operations (plus a stint assistant-managing a DJ) at Fool's Gold Records, social media and talent booking at The Combat Jack Show, programming at Music Choice, and content strategy at Fuse Media — where she greenlit *WTF with Baron Davis* and pitched and landed *The Read* as a Fuse TV property.

Mika is a Recording Academy member and mentors emerging talent through Grammy U, the Asian American Collective, UnitedMasters SelectCon, and Digilogue. She holds a CELTA certification and taught English in Taiwan for a year. She is based in Brooklyn.
